Introduction to Topic

The human being consists of body, mind and spirit which are inextricably linked. If one is disturbed, the whole person is affected. In the same way, we are members of the community of the Earth, and are interdependent with the other beings and with the Earth itself. The Earth’s energy, or life force, flows through all life forms, and when it is blocked by internal discord, the functioning of the whole system is disturbed. Ill health is the physical manifestation of emotional mental and spiritual scars caused by life’s damaging experiences. Even physical accidents and injuries, according to Louise Hay, can be the outward sign of an emotional problem.  There are many therapeutic activities which promote health in the whole person, and are complementary to conventional medical treatment. Homeopathy, Aromatherapy and Acupuncture are different methods used by practitioners with professional training and experience in their own therapy. They are all directed at finding the root causes rather than treating the symptoms as in conventional medicine. They use the body’s energy to heal itself, and as well as healing the symptoms, they can improve the health of the mind and spirit. Energy works!
Other practices are prophylactic; they help improve and maintain the health of the whole person. Some are meditative, such as Yoga, Tai Chi and meditation, and can be part of a person’s daily routine. They are disciplines to be learnt, and as well as being good exercise, can be methods of connecting with the Earth’s energy and the Universe in a spiritual way, helping to protect us from the damaging effects of modern life.
And then there are the recreational activities which can be equally therapeutic: gardening, walking, swimming, circle dancing, music – all having a relaxing and energising effect on body, mind and spirit. The articles in this section contain personal experiences and case histories as well as accounts of the beneficial effects of a large variety of therapies and other activities.
When we have learnt to heal ourselves we will be more capable of helping the Earth to heal herself. Reference:
