Greg will take us from the Big Bang – 13.8 billion years ago, through the creation of the stars, galaxies, planet Earth and the evolution of life on Earth up to the present day. Focussing on the latest scientific understanding, Greg will bring to life this awesome and amazing journey. We will also understand our place in this evolutionary journey in which we all participate.

Greg Morter runs Universe Story weekend walks tracing the evolution of the Universe from the Big Bang to the present day. His deep knowledge of the science of the Universe Story makes his walks both inspiring and entertaining. One participant said of his walk “Greg put together a truly exhilarating experience. Elisabet Sahtouris

The Evolution of Cooperation and Transformation

By showing us how our planet Earth is a self-regulating living system and part of an evolving Universe, Elisabet will give us insights that can help us steer through the rapid changes we are experiencing today. Just as the caterpillar becomes the butterfly, all of life is a constant flow of change and transformation. Drawing from her knowledge of Nature’s formulas for success, Elisabet will show us some of the ways in which we can align ourselves with this evolutionary process — such as moving from a competitive approach to one of cooperation — so that all species including our own can thrive in a cooperative “ecosophy” – a wisdom society in which our human economy fits harmoniously into our Earth's ecology.

Elisabet Sahtouris PhD ( and is an internationally known evolution biologist, futurist, author and speaker, US and Greek citizen living in Spain. With a post-doctoral degree at the American Museum of Natural History, she taught at MIT and the University of Massachusetts, contributed to the NOVA-Horizon TV series, is an advisor to Ethical Markets and holds the Elisabet Sahtouris Chair in Living Economies at the World Business Academy. She has convened symposia on the foundations of science in Hokkaido and Kuala Lumpur, and her venues include the World Bank, UN, Boeing, Siemens, Hewlett-Packard, South African Rand Bank, Caux Round Table, Tokyo International Forum, Xynteo TPT, the governments of the USA, Australia, New Zealand and the Netherlands, Sao Paulo business schools, State of the World Forums, Bahrain banking conference, Sri Lanka Design. Book - EarthDance: Living Systems in Evolution

A wonderfully fascinating journey through the history of EarthLife (biological evolution) and then through the history of humanity to see how we humans have seen ourselves in relation to our living planet and what that means for us now. Will we learn from Nature's amazing four billion years of experience in creating healthy living systems to give ourselves the future of which we dream?

Maddy Harland

Transformational Heresy – permaculture and beyond.

Our ancestors, who relied on their understanding of the land for their survival, held a worldview that acknowledged and celebrated their fundamental interconnection with the natural world. The industrial revolution and our post-industrial society have severed that link and our disconnection is reflected in our agricultural, pharmaceutical, energy and business practices. Maddy introduces permaculture design and grounds the ideas behind it with examples from around the world. These projects demonstrate how we can once again embrace our profound ecological connection and become a “communion of subjects, not a collection of objects”. Maddy also suggests that we need to become transformational heretics and explains how we can actively say “No” to our ecological, social economic disconnection.

Maddy Harland is editor and co-founder of Permaculture, an international quarterly magazine that covers all aspects of sustainable living, from permaculture gardening and small scale sustainable agriculture to green building, low-impact transport and community action. Maddy Harland also co-founded Permanent Publications in 1990, a company dedicated to publishing environmental books and digital media. The company is based at the Sustainability Centre in Hampshire, UK, a former Naval Base and now a thriving educational centre that Maddy helped set up. She is currently Chair of the Board of Trustees. Maddy is a fellow of The Royal Society of Arts and when at home she loves to get lost in her forest garden.

Chris Clarke

Chris encountered the Universe Story first as a physicist analysing the early universe and then as an enthusiast for Matthew Fox. He left Southampton University to write freelance in this area, the book Weaving the Cosmos focussing on this Story. Currently he is exploring the feminine archetype of Wisdom, found in many ages and cultures, as a path for integrating spirituality with the science of the cosmos.

Chris Clarke was Professor of Applied Mathematics at the University of Southampton from 1986 to 1999, and thereafter has been an independent consultant on science and spirituality. He has published 3 books and 45 technical papers on cosmology, and thereafter 4 Books and one edited book on spiritual aspects of the universe. Find out more about Chris Clarke at:
