Holland House
The GreenSpirit Annual Gathering weekend was at Holland House near Evesham during October. We had a very inspiring talk by Nicola Peel about her work in South America promoting and implementing projects to help the environment. One such project was making ‘bricks’ out of plastic bottles stuffed with rubbish. The bricks were then used to make shelters or, in one case, a kiosk selling food with eco-aware practices such as using banana leaves to wrap food.
It was not just the many projects Nicola was involved with that inspired us. It was her ‘can-do’ and positive attitude that was infectious. I certainly came away with more purpose in my stride to make the world a better place.
On the Saturday afternoon we had various workshops. One run by Deborah Colvin on on biomimcry and the work of Janine Benyus. I was amazed to see so many diverse solutions that nature adpots to help life flourish.
Added to this our meditations, rituals, discussions and sharing, by the end of the weekend, I came away with a warm glow in my heart. However big the challenges we face, our journey is made easier and more enjoyable if we are able to connect with like-minded people and learn from each other. I am already looking forward to next year’s GreenSpirit Annual Gathering.
