The performance of this piece of music in October 2021 in London was inspired by the book The Universe is a Green Dragon by Brian Swimme. Therefore, it’s all about the amazing unfolding of the universe from the big bang to the present day.

The performance was a mixture of live music (keyboards, flute and vocals) and some spoken words. All the spoken words were direct quotes from The Universe is a Green Dragon.

Gary Albert is a gifted musician and I could both see and feel his passion for the cosmos coming through his performance. There was the big bang and light first appearing with the inference that we are all ‘light’. That we are made up from the elements forged by the stars and that, with human consciousness, we are an important expression of the universe.

For me, the main feelings that I experienced through the music were awe and wonder: I felt transported into the journey of the universe and I felt as though I have been, and continue to be, an integral part of the cosmos right from the big bang to today – which I am! For me, this opens up feelings of compassion, connection and excitement.

It’s so encouraging to hear this musical piece and see more people awakening to the wonders of the universe and how this inspires us to take care of each other, all living beings and the planet.
